Instead of moving straight from sleep into a demanding morning, use Homey Flows to ease into the day. Connected blinds, lighting, hot water and coffee can work together, followed by security and energy-saving actions when you leave.
Wake Up with Gradual Light
A sudden alarm can leave you feeling unsettled. For a gentler alternative, connect smart curtains or blinds from brands such as Eve, Somfy or IKEA and have Homey open them gradually. The incoming daylight signals that it is time to wake, helping make the transition from sleep feel smoother and less stressful.
On dark winter mornings, an indoor light sensor can check whether opening the blinds has provided enough light. If the room is still dim, Homey can slowly brighten smart lamps to mimic a sunrise.
Prepare Your Shower and Coffee
A Flow can check your water boiler’s temperature before you wake and start heating if necessary, so warm water is ready for your morning shower.
Once you are showering, a humidity sensor can detect the rise in moisture and trigger a Flow to brew an espresso. Connect a smart coffee maker directly, or use a SwitchBot Bot—a mechanical button pusher—to activate a non-smart machine. Your coffee can then be ready as you finish showering.
Add Music or a Morning Briefing
Set a Flow to play a calming playlist through smart speakers when you enter the kitchen. If you would rather catch up on information, Homey can provide a short news briefing or your latest Spotify podcast instead.
Let Your Home Handle Your Departure
A "Leaving Home" routine can start when you step out through the front door, triggering a sequence of Flows for security and energy management.
First, a Flow locks the front door automatically. A few minutes later, Homey activates and arms the alarm system. A notification reports the state of your security devices so you can check that the actions worked as expected.
The routine can also switch off forgotten lights and devices that should not remain on in an empty home. Another Flow adjusts the smart thermostat while you are at work to reduce energy use.
You can begin for free with Homey Cloud or choose Homey Pro to build your automated routine.
